Summer Kids’ Movies return to Newtown Theatre

Posted

Newtown Theatre will screen a series of free summer kids’ movies at 10 a.m. Wednesday mornings in July and August with a special sensory-friendly screening at 1 p.m.

Each of this year’s movies will transport the audience to a different part of the world. For the seventh year in a row, the free movies are made possible by presenting sponsor Karen Ann Ulmer Attorneys at Law.

These screenings are for families only, not summer camps. Summer camps interested in bringing campers to the theater for a movie should email manager@thenewtowntheatre.com for details.

No reservations or tickets are required for the free screenings. Seating is first come, first served and doors open one hour before show time.

This year’s summer lineup includes: “Madagascar” on July 6, “Kung Fu Panda” on July 20, “Happy Feet” on July 27, “Paddington 2” on Aug. 3, “Hugo” on Aug. 10 and “How to Train Your Dragon” on Aug. 17.

During the 1 p.m. sensory friendly screenings, the house lights will be turned up slightly and the movie sound turned down slightly. These screenings are a special opportunity for individuals on the autism spectrum and others to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment.

The Newtown Theatre is located at 120 N. State St. in Newtown Borough. For information, visit TheNewtownTheatre.com.
