Stover Mill Gallery’s artists for May are Simon Mauer and Paul McGinn.

Mauer studied painting and drawing at Bucks County Community College, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and with Nelson Shanks at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

He has exhibited in dozens of juried shows in the Bucks County and Philadelphia region since 1996, winning awards at Phillip’s Mill, the Philadelphia Sketch Club, the Salmagundi Club, and others.

Mauer works in a variety of media including oil, watercolor, pencil, charcoal, and pastel. He works en plein air and frequently participates in life drawing sessions at local art studios.

McGinn took up painting after retiring as an Air Traffic Controller. He has studied with many artists, including George Thompson, Robert Beck, Kenn Backhaus, and Trisha Vergis. He has painted plein air and from life models, but now works primarily in his studio in oils.

His work has won awards in multiple juried shows including Phillip’s Mill and the Philadelphia Sketch Club.

The gallery, at 852 River Road (Route 32) Erwinna, is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. The show runs through May 29.
