Stem cell therapy for pets available at Doylestown Veterinary Hospital

Doylestown Veterinary Hospital & Holistic Pet Care now offers a same-day, drug-free therapy for pets suffering from osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia and other degenerative and inflammatory diseases.
In partnership with Ardent Animal Health (, Doylestown Veterinary Hospital & Holistic Pet Care is a leader in providing stem cell and platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy for pets.
Stem cells are cells with the ability to differentiate into many different types of cells, from muscle tissue to cartilage to brain cells. Autologous stem cell technology utilizes your pet’s own stem cells to repair injuries, regenerate new tissue and reduce inflammation. Degenerative joint disease such as hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis can be painful and negatively impact quality of life. Stem cell therapy naturally targets the source of the problem without the use of drugs or steroids.
Stem cells are easily obtained through a simple medical procedure that allows the veterinarian to take a small fat sample from your pet. The fat sample goes through a series of steps which allows for same-day isolation and targeted application of the stem cells to the affected areas. Stem cells can be banked if additional treatments are necessary.

In mid-March, two dogs – a 6-year-old Native American Indian dog with a history of elbow and hip dysplasia, and an 11-year-old French bulldog with luxating patellas (kneecaps) in both back legs and arthritis in both hips – were the first to receive stem cell therapy at Doylestown Veterinary Hospital under the care of Dr. Laura Weis and Dr. Jerica Lugo.
The optimum time to gather stem cells is before they are needed. Stem cells can be gathered during a spay or neuter at Doylestown Veterinary Hospital and banked through Ardent Animal Health.
