Stella of New Hope celebrates International Dog Day with cocktail fundraiser for local shelter

Posted

Few people know that Stella of New Hope, the restaurant and bar overlooking the Delaware River, is named for the lovable rescue pit bull, Stella, often seen on property, frolicking on the restaurant’s adjacent lawn.
That’s why, for this International Dog Day, Thursday, Aug. 26, Stella Bar and Beverage Manager Jamie Shaw is mixing up a special cocktail — The Salty Stella — with a small twist on a classic salty dog, and serving the summer-perfect cocktails for $5. Guests then may donate to Philly Bully Team, via a simple jar on the bar, if they so choose.
For this Dog Day, Shaw is going for a classic rendition with vodka mixed with freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, poured over a frosty ice-filled salted rimmed glass, and garnished with lime.

Guests wishing to imbibe outdoors may bring their furry, four-legged companions and sit on Stella’s riverside lawn while sipping a Salty Stella or two. Stella owners Sherri and Kevin Daugherty’s beloved rescued dog, Stella, is a one-eared charmer.
Guests wishing to support rescue dogs, may make a cash donation to the Philly Bully Team, a local animal rescue shelter working to find lovable pets a fur-ever home, by throwing a few dollars in the jar on Stella’s bar. All proceeds collected will go directly to supporting the lovable canine companions around the shelter.
Stella is located at 50 S. Main St. Call 267-740-2691 or visit Stella New Hope online for information.
