State Senate and House to host hearing with focus on pandemic funding for child care centers

At the request of state Sens. Judy Schwank (D–Berks), Lindsey Williams (D–Allegheny) and state Reps. Elizabeth Fiedler (D – Philadelphia) and Mary Jo Daley (D – Montgomery), the Senate and House Democratic Policy Committees will hold a virtual public hearing next week to discuss critical funding for child care centers, pre-k, and Head Start programs, and their employees affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The hearing is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, May 27 at 10 a.m. It will be livestreamed at and the PA Senate Democratic Caucus Facebook page.

The Senate Democratic Policy Committee is chaired by Sen. Lisa Boscola (D-Northampton/Lehigh), and the House Democratic Policy Committee is chaired by Rep. Mike Sturla (D – Lancaster). Testifiers at the hearing will include a number of education and child care professionals, child care center owners, and parents.
