Telephone town hall stresses emergency preparedness

Posted

State Sen. Steve Santarsiero recently hosted a telephone town hall highlighting how the state and region prepare for weather emergencies.

“In light of recent severe storm events here and the active hurricane season, it is a good time to make sure you’re prepared when an emergency strikes,” Santarsiero said in a statement.

In addition to Santarsiero, the town hall on Sept. 13 boasted appearances by Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency Director Randy Padfield, Bucks County Commissioner Bob Harvie and Bucks County Emergency Services Director of Operations George Wilson.

Topics included evacuation plans, preparedness for train derailments and flooding along the Delaware River and Neshaminy Creek.

To stay in the loop, residents can also sign up to receive AlertPA and ReadyBucks updates.

The forum also covered what a good emergency supply kit contains — a three-day supply of food, water and other supplies, batteries, first aid supplies, medications and important documents.
