Posted

A Pennsylvania State Police vehicle was rear-ended on Interstate 295 in Bristol Township early this morning while troopers were investigating a disabled vehicle.

One trooper, who was outside the patrol vehicle, jumped over the concrete median to avoid being struck, and sustained minor injuries, state police said. The driver of the car, a BMW sedan, was injured and transported to Saint Mary Medical Center.

The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Troop M Trevose Station is investigating the crash, which occurred at 4:56 a.m. while troopers from the PSP Trevose Station were on the scene of a disabled vehicle on I-295 eastbound, at mile marker 0.7.

State police remind motorists that drivers approaching an emergency response area are required to move over to a lane farther away. Drivers who are unable to safely merge into a lane farther away from the emergency response area are required to slow to no more than 20 mph below the posted speed limit.
