Choral Evensong for Pentecost will be presented at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, York and Main streets, Lambertville, N.J., at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 9.
Evensong services at Saint Andrew’s are similar to those presented at major Anglican English churches, such as Westminster Abbey and Saint Paul’s in London, and Kings College Chapel, Cambridge.
The Saint Andrew’s services commonly include English sacred music from the 16th to the 21st centuries.
On June 9, the choir of Saint Andrew’s will present music of two English Renaissance composers – an Introit by William Byrd and Preces and Responses by William Smith of Durham that are also currently being performed at Westminster Abbey Evensong services.
English composers of the 20th century will be represented by Canticles from the Gloucester Service by Herbert Howells, and by an Anthem by Gerald Finzi.
