St. Andrew’s sets All Saints-All Souls Evensong


Evensong for All Saints’- All Souls’ will be presented at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, York and Main streets, Lambertville, N.J., at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4.

An annual event, this service is offered in thanksgiving for the lives of all the departed and especially for those who have died during the past year. Those who attend can, if they choose, provide names of departed loved ones to be remembered at the service.

The choir of Saint Andrew’s Church will present music by Elizabethan composer William Byrd, also a “Magnificat” and “Nunc Dimittis” by 19th century composer Charles Villiers Stanford.

The service will conclude with an offering of five of the seven movements of Johannes Brahms’ German Requiem, with orchestra. The orchestra will include strings, woodwinds, brass, timpani and harp.

The next in this series of Evensongs at Saint Andrew’s will be at 4 p.m.

Dec. 23, with Christmas Lessons and Carols. On Dec. 2, the choir will present selections from Bach Cantatas 70, 140, and 167 with baroque orchestra at the 9:30 a.m. liturgy. All are welcome.
