St. Andrew’s Lambertville sets All Saints - All Souls Evensong

Choral Evensong for All Saints’- All Souls’ will be presented at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, York and Main streets, Lambertville, N.J., at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3.

An annual event, this service is offered in thanksgiving for the lives of all the departed and especially for those who have died during the past year. Those who attend can, if they choose, provide names of departed loved ones to be remembered at the service.

The choir of Saint Andrew’s Church will present music by Elizabethan composer William Byrd, also a “Magnificat’ and “Nunc Dimittis” by 19th century composer Charles Villiers Stanford.

The service will conclude with an offering of the seven movements of Johannes Brahms’ Requiem (“Ein Deutsches Requiem,” composed during 1865-1868), with a full orchestra.

The next in this series of Evensongs at Saint Andrew’s Church will be 4 p.m. Dec. 22, with Christmas Lessons and Carols.

Saint Andrew’s welcomes all to attend its monthly Choral Evensong Services, which are conducted in the same manner as those of the English churches such as Saint Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey.
