St. Andrew’s Lambertville offers Choral Matins

Posted

The 500-year-old liturgical service of Choral Matins (Choral Morning Prayer) is offered virtually by Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Lambertville, N.J., at 9:30 a.m. on most Sundays during the spring this year.

These include Ascension Sunday, May 16, in combination with Holy Eucharist Rite I, and on Trinity Sunday, May 30, and the following Sunday, June 6.

Choral Eucharist Rite II is offered virtually at 9:30 a.m. on the Sunday of Pentecost, May 23, at 9:30 a.m. In addition, a Choral Evensong service will be offered at 4 p.m. June 6, celebrating the first Sunday after Trinity. The Evensong service will be preceded by a Choral Prelude at 3:30 p.m., featuring Saint Andrew’s Virtual Choir.

Visit standrewslambertville.org for the schedule and links to the church’s virtual services where, in addition to fine sacred music, sermons are offered by the Rev. Daniel E. Somers, Saint Andrew’s Parish priest.

These services are live, not broadcast, and offer real-time interactions among those attending and serving. Most of the service music and the hymns are presented live, whereas anthems by the Virtual Choir are recordings made weekly, prior to the services.
