St. Andrew’s Lambertville Choir plans to carol in the streets

Posted

The Saint Andrew’s Choir will take to the streets in Lambertville, N.J., in the afternoon on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.

They will carol outside the Wells Fargo Bank at the corner of Bridge and Union streets at 3 p.m. Thereafter, the choir will head to Saint Andrew’s Church for refreshments and a brief choir rehearsal ahead of the church’s main Christmas worship service.

All are welcome to join in for refreshments at the church, located at 50 York St., Lambertville, and then stay for the service. The Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Carols will be sung throughout the service by both choir and congregation. This year the music will feature the famous Ukrainian bell carol, “Carol of the Bells,” which featured prominently in Ukraine’s fight for independence from Russia in the aftermath of World War I, which was not won until the breakup of the Soviet Union.

As always, the hymns will be familiar carols, and, at the end the congregation will sing “Silent Night” by candlelight in a darkened church.

On Christmas Day the Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m.

Everyone is welcome. For information, call the Parish Office at 609/397-2425 or visit standrewslambertville.org.
