Spring food drive nets 1,600 pounds of food and $500

Posted

Warminster Rotary Club and Giant Supermarket of Warminster joined forces with the Warminster Food Bank, April 13, for a spring food collection drive at Giant Supermarket of Warminster.

Giant customers and members of the community donated over 1,600 pounds of nonperishable food items and $500 in cash and Giant gift cards.

The items collected will help to provide monthly groceries and supplies for local families in need. The Warminster Food Bank serves over 12,000 people a year in Bucks and Montgomery counties.

“The work of the food bank and Rotary go hand in hand. Today, more than ever our club recognizes and works towards dignified service to those experiencing food insecurity,” said Karin Suttmann, president, Warminster Rotary Club. “Food insecurity isn’t kind, it doesn’t discriminate. The Rotary recognizes that fact and that we’re all in this together, no matter what.”

“Sadly, people experience food insecurity at all times of the year,” said Mike Cerino, director, Warminster Food Bank. “Our guests depend on us each month to help with their food needs. We are so grateful to people in the community for their generous donations to our Spring Food Drive. These items will help us to help our neighbors in need.”
