Sprig & Vine in New Hope wins national award for vegan sweet treat

Posted

In a nationwide battle royal to see who takes the cake, Sprig & Vine in New Hope has finished in the top tier.
Beating out eateries from across the country, the local favorite clinched a spot on PETA’s list of the Top 10 Vegan Sweet Treats in the U.S. for its Cashew Cheesecake. Served on a ginger-cashew-oat crust and topped with vanilla-coconut whipped cream and blueberry ras el hanout coulis.
“Sprig & Vine’s Cashew Cheesecake has won our hearts by spreading love to cows and hens,” said PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “All the eateries on PETA’s list prove that it’s as easy as vegan pie to dish out delicious treats that are also sweet to animals this Valentine’s Day.”

Consumers’ demand for vegan food has sent the vegan food market skyrocketing—it grew two and a half times faster in 2021 than it did between 2018 and 2020, and it’s expected to reach $22 billion by 2025.
Other winners on PETA’s list include HaleLife Bakery, with locations in Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and Tampa, Fla.; Jalen’s Bakery in Fresno, Calif.; and Sweet To Lick in Williston Park, N.Y.
