Special Equestrians receives COVID-19 Response Grant

Special Equestrians (SE) has accepted a $4,500 Foundations Community Partnership (FCP) COVID-19 Response Grant. FCP’s COVID-19 grant program provides support to Bucks County nonprofits that have remained open to provide essential services and those that were forced to close during the crisis. In addition, the grants are designed to help organizations provide remote services during the health crisis.

SE halted programming in mid-March but has remained in operation to care for its herd of 11 therapy horses. The barn staff are working to feed, exercise, groom and care for the daily needs of the horses.

SE’s administrative staff members are working remotely and program staff have created a series of online activities called “Rider Recess” to keep their majority school-aged participants and the community engaged. They are also conducting virtual lessons with some of the riders.

The FCP funds will be used to support SE’s efforts during the health crisis.
