Solebury Township welcomes two new police officers

Two new police officers were sworn in Tuesday June 18, at the Solebury Township Board of Supervisors meeting.

Patrick Dorsey is a second-generation police officer who is fluent in Spanish. Brendan Murphy was a field training officer and has received numerous commendations.

Dorsey graduated from Abington Friends School, later receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Police Science and Spanish from Drew University and completing his Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from Holy Family University.

Dorsey graduated from the Philadelphia Police Academy in 2016, starting his career in law enforcement at SEPTA Transit Police, later joining Warminster Township Police Department.

Fluent in Spanish, he excelled throughout his time in law enforcement working both in patrol and undercover capacities. His work history shows that he is devoted to community policing, crime suppression and active in complex law enforcement investigation.

“We welcome Patrick to Solebury Township knowing that his experience and knowledge in the law enforcement field will be a great asset to our department and community,” the department said.

Murphy is a graduate of Father Judge High School, later attending Gwynedd Mercy University for Criminal Justice.

He started his career in law enforcement working for the First Judicial District in Philadelphia, becoming a computer terminal agency coordinator. Murphy then joined Temple University Police Department, after graduating from the Philadelphia Police Academy in 2017.

During his time at Temple, Murphy worked patrol and later became a liaison with the Philadelphia Police Department Special Investigations Unit. He also was selected as a field training officer and has received numerous commendations to include a medal for heroism and life saving.

“We welcome Brendan Murphy to Solebury Township as an officer who has shown great work ethic, which will be an excellent addition to our department and community,” the department said.
