Solebury Township Farm Committee slates forum with Q&A

The Solebury Township Farm Committee presents a special forum titled “Cultivating a Sustainable Community: Agriculture’s Role in Achieving Solebury Township’s Community Goals.”

The forum will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in the Solebury Township Hall, 3092 Sugan Road, Solebury.

Farms are an important part of the matrix of the varied lifestyles that are in Solebury Township. This is an opportunity to learn more about this aspect of the community.

A variety of speakers will present their view of Bucks County farming in the 21st century and how it affects everyone.

Presentations, followed by a Q&A are: Ecosystem Services provided by Agricultural Lands and Practices, and Educating the Next Generation of Farmers, featuring Dr. Jackie Ricotta, Delaware Valley University; Food Insecurity in our Community, featuring Cathy Snyder, founder and executive director of Rolling Harvest; and Stories of Farming in Solebury Township, featuring Amy and Gary Manoff, Manoff Market Gardens and Cidery, and Kaitlin Farbotnik and Ryan Burton, Shady Fox Farm.

The event is for farmers and nonfarmers.
