Solebury School’s Service Society delivers blankets

Solebury School students Carly Feld, 2019, Jacob Potter, Class of 2019, and Matthew Tewell, Class of 2021, along with their advisor Sarah May, delivered 20 cozy fleece blankets to Alliance Cancer Specialists in Doylestown Hospital on Feb. 11.

The blankets were created to lessen the discomfort for chemotherapy patients and were made by Solebury students, teachers and parents during a day of service organized by the Solebury School Service Society, held every year on Martin Luther King Day.

Community members also upcycled furniture to be sold at the Network of Victims Assistance (NOVA) Thrift Store. NOVA supports, counsels, and empowers victims of sexual assault and other serious crimes in Bucks County and works to prevent and eliminate violence in society through advocacy, training, community education, and prevention programs. The donation of the furniture directly assists NOVA in their effort to make Bucks County safer community.

“We are building a legacy,” explained junior Aidan Holtz, Class of 2021. “We are helping our community to want to give back. Service should come from the heart.”
