Solebury police ID body pulled from Delaware River

Posted

Police in Solebury say they recovered the body of a missing Lehigh County man from the Delaware River on Easter morning.

Adam Zimpfer, 40, was from Hellertown but was most recently living in Allentown. He’d been missing since Dec. 27.

A passerby walking on the Delaware River Canal Towpath at about 10:15 a.m. Sunday reportedly observed what appeared to be a human body lodged on rocks between the towpath and Hendrick Island, police said.

Police responded to the river just north of Route 263 along with marine units from the New Hope Eagle and Point Pleasant fire companies. They confirmed the man was dead.

On Monday, an autopsy preliminarily showed no signs of foul play.

Investigators did uncover information located in Zimpfer’s clothing that led police to the Lehigh County missing persons report.

Subsequent DNA testing established Zimpfer as the deceased.
