Solebury picnic set for Tinsman meadow

Posted

The Solebury Township Historical Society (STHS) will celebrate its organization at the STHS Annual Members Picnic at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 in the bucolic meadow at Tinsman Brothers Lumberyard in Lumberville.

The picnic is an occasion for all members to enjoy camaraderie on the grounds of the America’s oldest continuously operating lumberyard. The raindate is Sunday, Sept. 8.

Founded in 1785, the historic TInsman Bros. landmark has doggedly weathered floods, hurricanes, countless wars, economic crises and political upheavals. Bill and Tom Tinsman are the fifth generation to carry on the family business and Will Tinsman is the sixth generation to take a leadership role in the company.

Members are invited to bring horseshoes, croquet and other lawn games, lawn chairs, blankets. Antique cars are also welcome. STHS will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, snacks and wine.

All members are encouraged to bring a dish to share along with a $15 donation to help offset expenses. ShopRite Flemington is the sponsor of this event.
