Softball notes: CR North notches 12th win; Palisades to play for league title

The Council Rock North softball team defeated host Pennridge 15-3 in a SOL Patriot/Colonial crossover game on the Rams’ Senior Night Monday.

Chelsea Seiler and Kayla Ripper both went 3-for-4 for CR North, with Seiler batting in three runs and Ripper one. CR North pitcher Olivia Schlindwein struck out seven and walked six on her way to earning the W.

After Tuesday’s 9-3 loss to Pennsbury, the Indians (12-8) were 15th in district power rankings. Pennridge (5-14), which finishes up the regular season against Souderton Thursday, dropped to 28th after falling to Central Bucks South 10-0 Tuesday.

The Indians’ sister school and the top seed in district power rankings, Council Rock South picked up its ninth straight win – an 8-1 victory over Harry S. Truman – on Tuesday. After Wednesday’s game against Souderton, the Golden Hawks (17-1) host Pennsbury on Thursday to finish up the regular season.

The top 24 teams advance to next week’s District One Class 6A playoffs. In addition to the two Council Rock schools, area teams projected to make the tournament include Quakertown (No. 3), Central Bucks West (No. 11), William Tennent (No. 18) and Central Bucks South (No. 20).

In the Colonial League semifinals held at Patriots Park in Allentown, No. 2 Palisades trounced No. 3 Palmerton 11-2 Tuesday. Palisades (16-4) advances to play No. 1 Northwestern/No. 4 Notre Dame-Green Pond in Friday’s title game.
