Silverman Gallery exhibits Desmond McRory’s traditional to modernist works

Posted

Desmond McRory’s “Visions of Bucks County and Beyond” is now showing at the Silverman Gallery of Bucks County Impressionist Art, continuing through Dec. 6.

This Sunday, Nov. 15, the artist will be available to meet and greet visitors from noon to 4 p.m.

Pulling from ideas generated by McRory’s diverse interests in nature, literature, art and music – these paintings from his Stockton, N.J., studio run from the traditional to modernist.

McRory is never afraid to experiment. “Luscious Abruzzo Tomatoes” are ripe for the picking. Cold wax techniques and vibrant swatches of color applied with a palette knife bring texture and form to almost abstracted landscapes, as seen in “Winter Sun.”

Known for his tonalist paintings, two fine examples in the exhibition are “Heron at Sunset” and “Birches.” Also featured are three series of new sculptural pieces that relate to various paintings.

“The McRory show is the third exhibition to open during these extraordinary times. Visitors say there is something peaceful and restorative about being able to see fine art in person,” said gallery owner Rhonda Garland. “People are looking to connect with a special piece for their living spaces and home offices, especially those who have had the time to paint a room or do some renovations.”

Browse the paintings on the gallery website or plan to see them in person. All visitors are required to wear a mask and social distance. Appointments for a leisurely private viewing are encouraged, and visitors can call ahead if they happen to be in the area to check on availability.

Silverman Gallery is located at 4920 York Road (Route 202), Holicong. Call 215-794-4300 or visit Silverman Gallery online.
