Sidetracks Art Gallery sets Nov. 1 closing, after 15 years in New Hope

Posted
After 15 years, with something of a heavy heart, Ricky Godinez and Paul Murphy, co-owners of New Hope Sidetracks Art Gallery have announced that the gallery will be closing as of Nov. 1.

While certainly influenced by the events of this pandemic year, they said, the closing is an acknowledgment of the current state of business for many retail art galleries everywhere and of the owners’ personal need to retire from business overall.

“Sidetracks Gallery has nothing but praise for the Scannapieco family from whom the original lease was taken in 2005 and whose generosity made it possible for the dream of Robin Larsen the founder of New Hope Arts to come true. Thanks are also due to Carol Cruickshanks, Robin’s successor, and to all those who have served on the New Hope Arts Board, under the leadership of Richard Hirschfield, Larry Keller and Bill Scandone.”

Sidetracks is grateful to have played a part in the long artistic tradition of New Hope, and to feature the works of many contemporary artists not previously known locally, the owners said. “In addition it has been an honor and privilege to successfully mount 12 annual ‘Naked in New Hope’ open submission exhibitions, presenting almost 500 individual artists, many of them more than once,” they said.

The gallery will remain open on October weekend afternoons (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
