The school board that voted 6-3 to allow libraries for K-4th grade students to restrict books that some might consider damaging to the minds of these students is nothing short of shameful censorship.
What gives the right of six individuals to tell librarians what books they can or can’t have on their shelves? Didn’t we just have a 6-3 Supreme Court decision that basically tells women what they can or can’t do with their own bodies? To create these potential restrictions on these school libraries is equally absurd.
My own mother was a school librarian for many years. If anyone ever told Mrs. Klinger what she could have on those library shelves, you wouldn’t have heard the end of it. If she’s looking down from above right now, I can already hear what she’d be saying to those six who ruled in favor of this insidious policy: For shame!
