Schools addressing concerns of Tik Tok posts containing threats

Posted

Area schools are addressing concerning Tik Tok posts that are being shared widely on the social media platform.  The post refers to a threat to school safety on Friday, December 17.

The following is a copy of the message from Dr. Bridget O'Connell, superintendent of Palisades School District, to the school community:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Today, we became aware of social media posts on TikTok which were shared with school administrators throughout the region. These postings indicate there will be shootings and bomb threats at schools across the U.S. on December 17th. No school districts have been specifically named in the posts. We have notified the Pennsylvania State Police, Springfield Township Police and the Tinicum Township Police of the posts and they will be visible at our schools tomorrow.

As we work together to keep our schools safe, please report any information that might compromise the safety of our students, staff and/or school. If it is an emergency matter, please call 9-1-1.
