Bernie Sauer announces GOP candidacy for 31st House District

Posted

Local businessman, community volunteer and lifelong Bucks County resident Bernie Sauer is running for the Republican endorsement for the 31st District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
“We need leaders willing to always be a strong voice for the people to ensure that decisions being made in government are helping working families, seniors, and children. That has been missing too often lately, and it is what I will bring back to Harrisburg,” Sauer said in making his announcement.
Among Sauer’s community activities is the Youth Aid Panel of Newtown, Lower Makefield and Upper Makefield where he works to help first-time non-violent offenders get back on the right path in life. He is also a member of the Newtown Borough Civil Service Commission and past member of both Newtown Borough’s Historical Architectural Review Board and its Environmental Advisory Committee.
Sauer said that his platform will focus on a few key areas: sparking job growth through economic revitalization; improving the state’s education system through accountability, investment and choice; providing strong fiscal discipline to protect taxpayer dollars; promoting public safety by providing strong support for law enforcement; and, ensuring trust in the election process for all citizens.

“I will fight to make sure that common sense and the will of the people is at the forefront again in government – to improve public safety, election integrity, education, job creation, and the other everyday issues that affect real people.”
Sauer, 50, is a graduate of Bishop Egan High School and he studied at Bucks County Community College and Temple University. He and his wife, Traci, make their home in Newtown where he has lived for more than 35 years. Sauer is the stepfather of Donovan, a graduate of Pennsbury High School now attending West Chester University, and Nicholas, who attends Council Rock Middle School.
An avid sportsman, Sauer is an active baseball and softball player and golfer.
