Saint Andrew students to present Living Rosary

Posted

Catholics around the world worship the Blessed Mother in a special way in the month of October.

Mary represents all mothers and has given Catholics the rosary as a special devotion.

Saint Andrew Catholic School in Newtown will present the annual Living Rosary in the school gym, at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7.

Students, dressed in robes, represent the beads in the rosary. Students in first through fifth grades will be dressed in white robes and will represent the Hail Marys. Sixth graders will be dressed in blue robes and will serve as Our Fathers.

Three eighth grade students, dressed in red robes and carrying the crucifix and candles, will travel from bead to bead as the entire school recites the rosary. Seventh and eighth graders will recite the prayers and introduce the mystery for each decade.

This special occasion is highly anticipated every year, and the children who have been chosen to be readers or beads have very special jobs.
