Rugby recap: Teams compete in tournaments

The Doylestown Rugby men’s team traveled to Lancaster on Oct. 9 and defeated the Roses 53-14.
Dylan Pellegrino was Man of the Match. Try scorers for the Dragons were: Kevin Hockings (two), Sekou Harris (one), Alex Willouer (one), Julian Bellman (one), Doug Ortiz (one), Ryheem Powell (one) and Steve Kornock (one). Dave Kornock kicked five conversions and one penalty kick. The Roses had two converted tries.
Doylestown will host Wilmington on the home pitch, at Maennerchor Field, 3650 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, on Saturday, Oct. 16. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
The Doylestown Rugby Academy high school girls team traveled to the West Chester University Tournament on Oct. 10. This was the third of the 2021 RugbyPA Fall Sevens Tournaments. The girls went 3-0 in pool play, defeating Conestoga 31-0, Downingtown 32-7 and West Pitt 29-0.
Try scorers for the day were Reaghan King (six), Maddie Doyle (five), Liz Johnston (two), Molly Thiebeau (one), Kendall Maday (two), Izzy Deltergo (one) and Maggie Austin (one). King made seven conversions and Doyle made two conversions. The girls fell to Morris 31-21 in the final.
The Doylestown girls will host and participate in their home tournament on Sunday, Oct. 17, at the Maennerchor Field, Doylestown.

The Doylestown Rugby Academy high school boys team traveled to the Susquehanna University Tournament on Oct. 10 This was the third of the 2021 RugbyPA Fall Sevens Tournaments. Doylestown went 1-3 for the day.
The team came out strong and won the first match against Susquehanna Motley, but injuries took their toll. The Dragons fell to Conestoga and Blackthorn in the next two matches. In the final match of the day for third place, Doylestown lost to West Shore United.
Next up for the boys will be the Blackthorn Tournament on Oct. 24.
