In an away match on Saturday, Sept. 17, the Doylestown Rugby men’s team lost its league opener against Media. The final score was 33-7.

The lone try for Doylestown was scored by Kevin Hockings. Fionn O’Toole was successful on the conversion. The Man of the Match was Kevin Hockings.

On Saturday, Sept. 24, the Dragons will travel to Lancaster to play the Roses. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

On Sept. 17, the Doylestown Rugby women’s team kicked off its season with a hard-fought loss to Phoenixville Whitehorse, 38-7.

The Lady Dragons were losing 14-7 at halftime, but injuries and a poorly called penalty resulted in the women playing down a player for most of the second half.

Doylestown will next take on the North East Irish Women in an away match on Oct. 1, at 11 a.m.

The Doylestown Rugby Academy high school girls team traveled to Hollidaysburg on Sept. 18 to play in the first round of the RugbyPA Fall Sevens Tournament. The team went 2-1-1 for the day.

Reaghan King led the team with three tries. Maggie Austin had two tries and Maddie Doyle, Nora Rosenburg, Sydney Haddon and Nolah Flynn all had one try each. Flynn also kicked seven conversions.

Doylestown defeated Hollidaysburg 26-5 and West Carroll 28-19. The team tied Downingtown 5-5. At the end of a long day, the girls lost to the Knightmares of Lancaster 26-0.

Doylestown will next travel to Buffalo, N.Y., to play a round robin on Sunday, Sept. 25.
