The Doylestown Rugby men’s team won the Mid-Atlantic Conference Championship (Division 2) by defeating Raleigh 47-14 on Saturday, May 4 at Founders Field in Pittsburgh.
The Dragons are back-to-back MAC champions, having also won the title last year.
Try scorers for Doylestown were Bruce Dolan (four), Dave Kornock (two) and Matt Hartwell (one). Dylan Hamilton kicked six conversions.
Bruce Dolan was the Man of the Match. Raleigh had two tries and two conversions.
Next up for the Dragons is the USA Rugby Eastern Club Championship round May 18 to 19 in Spartanburg, S.C.
The high school boys team lost to Conestoga in a home match on May 5. The final score was 27-15.
Try scorers for the Dragons were: Ryan Hieber (one), Juan Campos (one) and Michael Richards.
Conestoga had three tries, three conversions and two penalty kicks. Next up for the Dragons is a semifinal match in the RugbyPA State Championships.
The high school girls team defeated Downingtown in an away match May 5. The final score was 45-7.
Try scorers for Doylestown were: Tiyanna Hooker (three), Ayla Bleznak (one), Keeley Boell (one), Merrin McSorley (1) and Nina Mason (one). Nina Mason also kicked five conversions. Downingtown had one try and one conversion.
Doylestown will play State College in a home match on Sunday, May 12, at Maennerchor Field, 3650 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown.
The youth boys team shut out Cumberland Valley 61-0 in an away match on Sunday, May 5, 2019.
Try scorers for the Dragons were: Cooper Tyksinski (two), Jack Campbell (two), Matt Cleland (two), Lucas Wicen (one), Gavin Koch (one) and Cade Aivazian (one). Cleland kicked seven conversions and Ethan Harding kicked one conversion. The Men of the Match were Tyksinski and Teddy Gilroy.
