Rose Marie Strippoli takes top prize at Tinicum Arts Festival

The Tinicum Civic Association has named the award-winning artists in the 70th Tinicum Arts Festival’s Art Barn exhibit at Tinicum Park, Erwinna, July 6 and 7.

A total of 181 artists participated. The judges were oil painter Robert J. Seufert from Fairless Hills and gallery owner John Chapman from Doylestown.

Best of Show was awarded to Rose Marie Strippoli from Bristol, for her acrylic painting, “The Passage.”

Awards and honorable mentions were given in seven categories:

* Oils: first place, Richard Lennox, “Total Gamut”; second place, Jeanne Chesterton, “Conversation”; third place, Dot Bunn, “Zinnias and Collage”; honorable mentions, Stephen V. Russell, “Winter on Giving Pond” and Joyce Danko, “Furr.”

* Acrylics: first place, Ed Baumlin, “October Palette”; second place, Tom Chesar, “Edge of Town”; third place, Margaret Grandinetti, “Bird Recall”; honorable mentions, Barbara Tracy, “Winter Freeze on the Delaware River” and Kristine Keating, “Moving Towards the Light.”

* Other Mediums: first place, Nan Kirstein, “Tribute”; second place, Malcolm Nagle, “The First Floor”; third place, Yvonne Adkins, “Frieda-Cowl-Oh”; honorable mentions, Marla Burke, “Who”s There” and Susan Hohman, “Family of Earth.”

* Pastels: first place, Donna Stein, “The Glass Cutter”; second place, Olya Powzaniuk, “Spring is Melting Me”; third place, Beth Lowell, “Ribbons”; honorable mentions, Sandy Askey Adams, “After the Rain” and Gordon Wolf, “Tigers in the Woods.”

* Photography: firs place, Phillip Rothenberg, “Apples and Pears”; second place, Dwight Harris, “Exclamation View of View”; third place, Ken Brown, “You Are Not Forgotten”; honorable mentions, Sue Ann Rainey, “Estella”s Café, Las Vagas NM” and Louise Fiore, “After the Rain.”
