Robert A. Ainey, 73, of New Hope, Pa., died at his home on Friday, Aug. 12, 2022.

Robert was born on July 30,1949 in Northeastern, Pa., where he grew up. He received a full Senatorial Scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated “magna cum laude” in May 1971.

After graduation, Robert moved to Ohio and had several jobs in the early computer world. He received an offer to go to Kuwait for a two-year assignment during which time he intended to save all his income so he could put a good down payment on a home in the U.S. After two years, he received an even better job opportunity in Saudi Arabia. He then returned to the U.S., only to be offered a job with ACI in London. He worked there a couple of years until he moved to Bahrain to open a branch in the Middle East. In Bahrain Robert was the general manager for ACI for the Middle East for almost 20 years. He was especially proud of his involvement in Rotary and the good work they did in Bahrain for the poor.

His last position was as president of the Bahrain Association of Banks. He totally turned around the organization, even having it renamed. He started the magazine “The Bahrain Banker” that had prominent bankers from all over the world offer pieces of knowledge useful to their membership.

Upon returning to the U.S. for retirement, he worked in the real estate industry before relocating to Arizona to care for his elderly father for more than a year. After his father’s death in 2021, he stayed to get the estate in order and returned to New Hope.

Robert is survived by his spouse, A. Khalifa; three brothers, Jack, Jerry and Michael; his best friend, Thomas E. Hora and many friends both in the U.S. and abroad.

Funeral services will be private.

Donations in Robert’s memory may be made to Fisherman’s Mark, 60 Wilson St., Lambertville, NJ 08530.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, Lambertville, NJ 08530 (vhmfh.com).
