Posted

Raritan River Music Festival, winner of the National Award for Adventurous Programming from ASCAP/Chamber Music America, will present a series of four concerts throughout the month of May.

All details about performers and composers, online streaming, and COVID safety precautions for the festival concerts can be found at the web site, RaritanRiverMusic.org.

Laura Oltman, co-founding director of Raritan River Music, said, “Spring is in the air and a sense of renewal awaits our return to the immediacy of the festival’s historic concert venues – Prallsville Mills, Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church, Stanton Reformed Church – plus we’ll be continuing at the outdoor, 100% covered Blue Army Shrine, for a special Irish music show. All the venues are located in really idyllic settings in the rolling hills of Hunterdon and Warren counties in West-Central New Jersey.”

The festival will present internationally-known ensembles and soloists in concert – live and in person, in addition to online video streaming provided by The Animal House music production studio.

Performers include: the Bergamot String Quartet at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, at Stanton Reformed Church, 1 Stanton Mountain Road, Stanton, N.J.; fiddler Eileen Ivers with her band unIVERSal Roots at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Blue Army Shrine, 647 Mountain View Road East, Asbury, N.J.; a concert of five guitarists – Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo, Yenne Lee, Hannah Murphy and Phil Goldenberg, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church, 17 Greenwich Church Road, Stewartsville, N.J.; and 9 Horses at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Prallsville Mills, 33 Risler St. (Route 29), Stockton, N.J.

Michael Newman, the other founding director of Raritan River Music added, “In a world where artistic categories are often so narrowly defined, we are excited to offer a wide range of musical programs, crossing myriad stylistic boundaries, that embrace performers and composers from Cuba, France, Ireland, Singapore, South Korea, Brazil, Canada, Germany, as well as Maine, California, Tennessee, Indiana, Texas, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.

“We are thrilled to present to the festival audience these outstanding musicians who reflect the vast cultural wealth and diversity of America today.”
