Rams’ Reutlinger aids community rescue efforts during Ida flooding

Stephen Reutlinger must have been exhausted at last Thursday’s football practice.
The senior lineman for Pennridge arrived at practice having had very little sleep the night before.
That’s because Reutlinger is a junior fireman for Perkasie Station 26, and was out all night on water rescue due to the flooding caused by Hurricane Ida.
“I went to the station at 4:30 and I didn’t get home until 3:30 the next morning,” he said. “It was a long night. I was at the Bridgetown houses right there on Walnut Street and Constitution and we were on a bunch of rescues.
“Lately because of how bad our storms have been, I’ve been doing more of that but I’m trained to do pretty much everything.

“Right before it got really bad, we were roping it and we had life jackets on. Once we got out there, we pulled the rope away and they had a big military vehicle come in to help us.
“Straight up, we thought Wednesday was going to be bad. We were all at the station at 4:30, even before the flooding started, we were there. It was really bad and we were out there for so long. It was 4:30 to 3 a.m. and then I got up and had practice at 1:30 so I was tired.”

The last meeting between the two programs was a 38-32 win for the Falcons on Oct. 16, 2015. Pennridge last topped Pennsbury by a 28-27 score on Nov. 16, 2012.
The Rams host SOL National foe Neshaminy on Friday night.
“We’ll be ready,” Dantzler said.
