Quakertown students visit State Capitol

Quakertown Community High School students joined Bucks County superintendents at the state Capitol on Monday, Oct. 1.

The superintendents, along with Bucks County Intermediate Unit officials, were advocating on behalf of area districts. They met with several lawmakers, including Gov. Tim Wolf, state Reps. Marguerite Quinn, Helen Tai, Gene DiGirolamo, Craig Staats and state Sen. Chuck McIlhinney. Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera also spent considerable time with the students and school officials.

Quakertown Community High School students met with and asked questions of state officials.

“Our students had a great educational experience today,” Superintendent Dr. Bill Harner said. “I’m so proud of each one of them.”

The students from Quakertown TV Production were Angelina Becker, Amelia Derry, Ryan Lancaster and Joseph Lock. AP Government students were Alexandra Brandis, David Fletcher and Andrew Labeeb.

Also in attendance was Adam Schmucker, principal of Trumbauersville Elementary School. He is Pennsylvania’s National Distinguished Principal.
