Princeton society commemorates pivotal Revolutionary War battle

Posted

Princeton Battlefield Society will present “Experience the Battle of Princeton,” its annual educational event commemorating one of the pivotal battles of the Revolutionary War and a central event in the history of New Jersey and of the United State, Sunday, Dec. 29.

The event will start at the Princeton Historical Society’s Updike Farm, adjacent to the Battlefield at 354 Quaker Road in Princeton, N.J., with a presentation by local historian William L. Kidder, author of “Ten Crucial Days: Washington’s Vision for Victory Unfolds.”

Kidder will then lead interpretation of the recreation of the battle by re-enactors representing the Continental and British units involved, describing exactly where, when, and why events unfolded that chilly morning in 1777.

The event will start at 9 a.m., with the re-enactment to follow at the site of the original battle: Princeton Battlefield State Park, 500 Mercer St., Princeton.
