While officers were talking with the complainant, the woman opened the back door of the police vehicle, got in, and promptly fell asleep. Officers were familiar with the woman, as she had two previous incidents in the past two days. Officers took her into custody.
Due to the level of her intoxication, officers contacted Lambertville New Hope Rescue Squad. While attempting to get the woman into the ambulance, she struck an officer in the head with her fist. The man, who was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol and/or controlled substances, was uncooperative and refused to submit to field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test.
