Snow Song

Posted

Through the kitchen window

The wind chimes tinkle

where they hang in the garden

in harmony with the snow-covered

pine branches rustling in the breeze.

The snow muffles their vibrations

as it drifts and floats from the tree.

No one is there to listen but

for a sprinkling of sparrows.

Constance Wrzesniewski’s poetry appears in numerous journals. The Doylestown resident performed in Making Magic at Michener Museum, won third prize in DelVal University’s Writers’ Conference and was second runner-up in the Main Street Voices Poetry Contest. A Pushcart Prize nominee, she published chapbooks in 2015, 2018 and 2022.

Poet’s Corner is curated by Bucks County Poet Laureate Tom Mallouk and supported by a grant to the Bucks County Herald Foundation made possible by Marv and Dee Ann Woodall.

A note from Tom: Poet’s Corner is off to a great start. I want to thank those who have sent me poems to consider and I have many fine ones to choose from, but I want more. The goal is to capture the range of poetic voices in the community. We’ve already had the poem of a 12-year-old and soon an 85-year-old poet will be featured. We’ve had poet laureates with extensive writing resumes and I plan to include a poet who has written exactly one poem. Please email heraldpoetscorner@gmail.com a poem for me to consider to be included in the Poet’s Corner. The poem should be in a Word document using Times Roman font and 12 point type. Thank you.
