Plumstead Township receives grants

Posted

Plumstead Township has received a $339,746 grant from the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program.

The program is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

The grant is for the installation of a greens and filtration system for a well in the Summer Hill water system. The Summer Hill water system provides clean potable water to 376 residences within the southwestern portion of the township.

The project is expected to cost $399,700 and will be designed, bid and installed in 2019.

The township also received a $65,000 grant from the Watershed Restoration and Protection Program.

The program is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

The grant is for Phase II of the Summer Meadow streambank restoration project. The streambank area involved is in an impaired watershed. The intent of the stream stabilization project is to provide long-term soil erosion and sedimentation control for the unnamed tributary of Pine Run by directing water away from the stream banks during low flows, and protecting the banks during the extreme high flow events.

The project is expected to cost $90,000 and will commence in late summer or early fall of 2019.
