Posted

Phillips’ Mill Community Association invites high school students thinking of applying to collegiate art programs to an informational presentation 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5.

“Art as a Life and Career Path” will be led by Andrea Thompson, arts education manager at the Michener Art Museum, who will discuss the myth of the starving artist, career paths and opportunities for artists, the particulars of the art application process, e.g. portfolio preparation, photographing your work etc., and opportunities for students at the Michener Art Museum.

Parents are also encouraged to attend the free event, which will include a Q&A period.

Registration is required on the Phillips’ Mill website at www.phillipsmill.org/event/art-as-a-life-career-path.

While at the Mill, enjoy the 10th annual Youth Art Exhibition, which will be on display noon to 4 p.m. weekends through Feb. 19. The exhibition showcases the works of 140 high school students from 22 area schools and includes paintings, works on paper, sculpture, photography and digital artwork.

Phillips’ Mill is located at 2619 River Road, New Hope.
