Phillips’ Mill invites signature submissions for 93rd juried art exhibition

Posted

The 93rd Juried Phillips’ Mill Art Exhibition Committee invites artists to submit an artistic representation of its historic grist mill for consideration as the signature image for this year’s show.
The show will be held at the mill in Solebury, and online from Sept. 24 to Oct. 30.
The image chosen will be used on posters, ads, invitations, postcards, social media, banners and on the Phillips’ Mill website; in short, on all of the show’s marketing, publicity and advertising materials.
The winning artist will receive a $400 honorarium, and the artwork will be featured for sale at the show. This is a dynamic opportunity for high visibility of the artist’s work, style and name within the New Hope area’s community of collectors. The show will be mounted online as well, which will introduce the artist’s work to an international community, as well.
The selected artist will enjoy additional benefits. The artwork as well as its creator will be promoted in social media and press releases, and will be featured on Phillips’ Mill’s ArtTalk series. The work will be featured for sale at the art show (and, having become so familiar, often sells at the show.) The artist is welcome to submit additional work to the juried show itself.
Previous years’ images have included whimsical as well as traditional depictions of the mill and its surroundings. Collages, watercolors, oils, and acrylics have all been chosen, so artists should feel free to use their favorite medium, other than photography, to create their vision of the mill.

In its efforts to build an inclusive and welcoming environment, artists of all backgrounds are encouraged to submit their work and to consider expressing their heritage and traditions in their depiction of the mill.
Submissions will be accepted through March 29. In keeping with the parameters of the annual juried art show, all artists must reside within a 25-mile radius of Phillips’ Mill Community Association at 2619 River Road, Solebury.
Email a high-resolution jpeg of your framed work to artshow@phillipsmill.org. Provide the title, size and medium of the piece, as well as your name, address, phone number and email address. After a preliminary review of online submissions, finalists will be chosen and notified by email to deliver their work for in-person review at Phillips’ Mill at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 11.
The winning image will be revealed and announced on the mill’s website, social media pages, newsletter and other communications.
