Perkasie hosts inaugural Pride event, featuring Prom Royalty

Posted

Perkasie’s inaugural Pride event will feature the pair believed to be the state’s first same-sex Prom Royalty cutting the Rainbow Ribbon, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at 7th and Market streets, Perkasie.
To celebrate Pride Month, a committee led by local business owner Priscilla Gray-Stoll, worked with the borough to create the inaugural Pride event, which will take place in conjunction with the Perkasie Farmers Market.
The themed market will feature LGBTQ+ and ally artists, inclusive story times, rainbow sidewalk chalk, games, henna art, giveaways and crafts lead by Perkasie’s local faith communities, and resources for members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community.

Class of 2021 Pennridge High School grads Carly Levy and Courtney Steiner will be guests of honor at the ribbon cutting. These young women were voted Pennridge Queens by their classmates.
“We’re inviting everyone to visit Perkasie’s Pride market, whether you’re a member of the community, an ally, or if you just want to know more,” said Gray-Stoll, co-owner of Chimayo Gallery and Gift Shop. “Our committee has been so grateful for the support of the borough and we are delighted by council’s enthusiastic support for this inaugural event.”
Perkasie Borough Council recently unanimously passed Resolution 2021-22, declaring June 2021 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month and declared Saturday, June 26, 2021 as Pride Day in the Borough of Perkasie.
