The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Troop M – Bethlehem have announced the results of the Thanksgiving Holiday Enforcement period, which commenced at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, and concluded at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28.
The safety initiative P.A.D.E.E.P (Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement Education Program) targeted drivers who aggressively operated their motor vehicle in a manner which was dangerous to members of the public, which included speeding, seat belt violations and child seat belt infractions.
In addition, S.T.E.A.D.D. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Against Drunk Drivers) and D.R.E. (Drug Recognition Expert) Troopers specifically focused on apprehending motorist who operated their motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
During the Thanksgiving Holiday Traffic Enforcement Period of 2021, Troop M (Lehigh, Northampton and Bucks counties) Troopers investigated a total of 77 crashes and made 35 driving under the influence arrests: 19 people were injured, five in alcohol-related crashes, and there were 513 speeding citations issued. There were no fatalities.
