Pennsylvania State police conclude holiday traffic patrols

Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Troop M – Bethlehem announced the results of the Christmas Holiday Enforcement period, which commenced at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Dec. 24, and concluded at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, and the New Year’s Holiday Enforcement period which began at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, and ended at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2.
The safety initiative was held to target drivers who aggressively operate their motor vehicle in a manner which is dangerous to members of the public, including speeding, seat belt violations and child seat belt infractions, as well as distracted driving, and drivers who operate motor vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

During the Christmas Holiday Traffic Enforcement Period, Troop M (Lehigh, Northampton and Bucks County) Troopers investigated a total of 37 crashes, resulting in injuries to six people, and made 17 driving under the influence arrests. Four of the crashes were alcohol-related, including one that resulted in the death of one person.
During the New Year’s Holiday Traffic Enforcement Period, Troop M Troopers investigated a total of 32 crashes, resulting in injuries to three people, and made 25 driving under the influence arrests. Three of the crashes were alcohol-related. There were no fatalities.
