Pennridge to explore school start time

Posted

The Pennridge School District, under the direction of Superintendent Dr. David Bolton, has shared the exploration of adolescent sleep and school start time as a district goal.

The study will be conducted over the course of two years to understand the impact this topic would have on the Pennridge School District and the surrounding community.

The district is conducting an initial community feedback survey regarding adolescent sleep and school start time. The survey will inform the district of the community’s initial feedback, as well as gauge the interest of individuals who would like to be considered for the Pennridge School District Sleep and School Start Time Committee.

The committee will study the components affected by a potential change to school state times. The Initial Community Feedback Survey regarding sleep and school start time can be directly accessed at surveymonkey.com/r/SKMNNSD and will be available until 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6.

The committee will be comprised of stakeholders including students, parents, staff members, district administration and community members. The committee will be informed about the research and data surrounding adolescent sleep, as well as information regarding school start time.

Those preferring not to be considered for the committee are still encouraged to complete the Initial Community Feedback Survey. In addition to the survey, throughout the study individuals can submit feedback by emailing sleepandschoolstarttime@pennridge.org.

The Pennridge Community can also stay informed by accessing the Pennridge School District Sleep and School Start Time website at tinyurl.com/psdsleep.
