Pennridge High School had 14 students compete in six categories at the Technology Student Association State Conference in April.
There were more than 100 school districts competing in about 45 different events. For the first time, every student placed and received a trophy or finalist pin. In addition, Chris McKinney and Vishal Tailor will represent the state of Pennsylvania in structural engineering at the National Conference in Washington D.C.
Pennridge students who competed are:
Structural Engineering and Design: First place – Chris McKinney and Vishal Tailor (each student also won a $15,000 a year scholarship from Jefferson University); fourth place – Marshall Fowler and Nick Alvarez; fifth place – Tyler Herd and Zach Lincoln; seventh place – Brandon Lindley and Tim Sauers;
Computer Troubleshooting: Third place – Patrick Mehlbaum and Andrew Freuler;
Dragster Design: Fifth place – Marshall Fowler, 10th place – Vincent Olindo;
Technology Bowl (Individual): Fifth place – Andrew Freuler;
Technology Bowl (Team): Seventh place – Andrew Freuler, Vincent Olindo and Vishal Tailor; 11th place – Nick Alvarez, Marshall Fowler and Brandon Lindley;
Software Development: Eighth place – Patrick Mehlbaum, Chris McKinney and Andrew Bergey;
Transportation Modeling: Sixth place – Chris Frederick; Eighth place – Matt Genatempo;
Coding: Eighth place – Chris McKinney and Patrick Mehlbaum;
Robotics: Eighth place – Nick Alvarez, Marshall Fowler, Brandon Lindley and Vincent Olindo.
