Three individuals who have positively impacted thousands of Pennridge students during their combined four decades of service to the District have been named winners of the 2019 “Friend of Education Award by the Pennridge Community Education Foundation.
High school technology education teacher Allen Androkites, Penn Central Middle School librarian MaryLou Ashworth, and bus driver/children’s book author Maria Hough will be honored at PCEF’s ninth annual A Lovely Evening on Tuesday, April 30 at The Sellersville Theater.
In addition to the award presentations, the event will also feature performances by the PHS String Ensemble, the jazz band, the chamber choir, the Fematas a capella group, and selections from the STARS presentation of “Cinderella.”
Proceeds from “A Lovely Evening” benefit the Classroom Innovation Grant program, which provides teachers with resources they need to enhance educational opportunities for Pennridge students. This year, more than $10,000 will be presented to teachers to support STEM initiatives, flexible seating, video game design, field trips for Life Skills students, musical instruments and a puppet-making program.
As a special bonus, The Washington House will donate 20 percent of food/drink bills between 5 and 9 p.m. if guests mention they are attending A Lovely Evening.
Tickets are $20 each and include a complimentary dessert reception starting at 6:30 p.m.. A cash bar will be available.
