Pa. Senate Republicans wasting taxpayer money

Posted

Why are Pennsylvania Senate Republicans wasting taxpayer money and risking the theft of voters’ private data to perform yet another “review” of the 2020 election? In their latest attempt to undermine democracy, the Pa. Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee has subpoenaed the Pa. Department of State to obtain the names of all 7 million voters who cast a ballot in the 2020 election and 2021 primary.
They also want to know our addresses, state driver’s license numbers, the last four digits of our social Security numbers, our birthdates, email addresses, and whether we voted by mail or in person.
This is worrisome, regardless of your party. The committee plans to turn over this information to a yet-to-be identified private company that would carry out the “review.” No purpose or goal for the review has been defined. Committee Chair Cris Dush has refused to provide any information about companies under consideration to perform the review, even though this company will be paid with taxpayer money. It is not unreasonable to fear that unscrupulous actors may find a way to tamper with our private voter information, possibly jeopardizing the integrity of future elections.
This brazen invasion of our privacy undermines the sanctity of the voting process and perpetuates the big lie. Please contact your elected representatives in Harrisburg today and tell them to publicly denounce this subpoena, stop the invasion of our privacy, and end the baseless attacks on the integrity of our elections.
