The second annual International Day was celebrated on Sunday May 19, at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa.
The event began with a Holy Mass celebrated by The Rev. Krzysztof Drybka, prior of the Shrine. During the Mass, prayers were said in 12 different languages.
The program continued in the cafeteria, where each of the more than 20 countries represented had a table to display and share cultural items and information.
In addition, the approximately 400 members of the public in attendance had the opportunity to see performances by different groups.
Children had a great time with the “ My Passport” activity, during which they had the opportunity to interact with the participants and learn the capitals of the countries represented. All children were invited to the stage to sing together to close the program.
Participating countries included: Afghanistan, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Poland, Scotland, Spain, Syria, Uruguay, The Philippines and Vietnam.
A number of community organization also took part in the event. They included: International Spring Festival, The Conservatory, MCEP, The Michener Art Museum, NNAPAC Association, Welcoming The Stranger, Vita, Doylestown Free Library and YMCA Bucks County.
