Open letter to Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick re: George Santos

Posted

Dear Congressman Fitzpatrick,

You are currently viewed as among the most moderate of the GOP members. It is past time for George Santos to be removed from Congress. It is unimaginable that a person who has lied to and mislead his constituents in such a dramatic fashion continues to remain in office.

Furthermore, voters are tired of the nonsense and violence coming from your party. Republicans have cultivated a cynicism about government and politics that saddens me. I was a political science major in college and hold a master’s degree in public policy. Years ago I worked for the moderate Congresswoman, Marge Roukema in New Jersey.

Marge and Republicans like her would not recognize your party today. I certainly don’t, which is why I became a Democrat years ago. There is simply no way that George Santos would have been allowed to continue in years past. No way a woman’s right to choose would be in jeopardy, no way automatic weapons would be so pervasive. I also mourn the Republican disregard for our climate challenges.

As your constituent, I want to believe that you are not as compromised as most of your GOP colleagues. Please illustrate your decency by demanding Santos’ resignation. Then, please, get to work on healing our country.
